The concerts, receptions, meet-and-greet opportunities and other events during the thirteen days of the 11th edition of the New Year Music Festival in Gstaad, Rougemont, Chateau d’Oex and Saanen will begin during last week of December 2016.

Thank you to everyone who helped to make the 10th anniversary edition of the New Year Music Festival in Gstaad such a success.


Over 14 days the festival presented innovative and original programmes – from the rarely-performed “Die schöne Magelone” with spoken texts by Marthe Keller, Liede sung by baritone Edwin Crossley Mercer and piano by Caroline Haffner –


to the first, international concert by Julian Trevelyan, 16-year-old winner of the 2015 Concours Long-Thibaud and Prix de SAS le Prince Albert II de Monaco – the high patron of the 10th edition the festival.


Dates are set and artists lined up for the 11th edition of the New Year Music Festival in Gstaad to start in December 2016.

François-Joël Thiollier is an internationally recognized French-American classical pianist. He was appointed an Officier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2003. and has been a jury member for the Concours de Genève International Music Competition. He has performed in more than 40 countries, and made many, well-received recordings, including the complete piano works of Rachmaninoff, Debussy, Ravel and Gershwin.

Marwan Abado is the best known ambassador of oriental music in Austria and one of those musicians who demonstrate that Austria is a land of music full of inspiration and interesting encounters.  Paul Gulda was born in Vienna and has ventured into diverse areas including music for Austrian theatre companies. He conceived and presented programmes combining music and literature, including a programme on Felix & Fanny Mendelssohn, Heinrich Heine and Bertolt Brecht.

World Premier at the New Year Music Festival

Opening Night in Gstaad – Saturday 26 December 2015

On the opening night of the 10th anniversary edition of the New Year Music Festival in Gstaad, the world premier of Yves Prin’s “HAFFNER TRIO” will be performed by French pianist Caroline Haffner and the New Year Music Festival Trio.

A recipient of the Prix Florent-Schmitt de l’Académie des Beaux-Arts, Yves Prin has his own dramatic language – a special lyrical vision of music. A pianist and conductor, he was in charge of coordination for contemporary music and music theater for Radio France, producer at Radio France for the contemporary music concert series and acting producer of Radio France’s Festival “Présences” he now dedicates himself to his own music. His catalogue includes forty works including five concertos and 41 melodies. A longtime collaborator with Caroline Haffner (www.carolinemurat.com), Yves Prin has regularly attended the New Year Music Festival in Gstaad.
